Postdoc position in biomedical research

I am seeking a postdoc who is interested in applying his/her skills to problems in biomedical research. My research focuses on the use of numerical modelling and medical imaging to understand the relationship between blood flow and vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis. The work in which I am currently involved uses magnetic resonance imaging to extract three-dimensional models of arterial geometries, which are then used in subsequent computational fluid dynamic studies of blood flow. This is a very challenging project at the leading-edge of bio- medical research, and requires expertise in one or both of the following:

  • computational fluid dynamics: theory and implementation of finite element methods, numerical solution of nonlinear equations, unstructured mesh generation

  • image/data processing: (semi-)automated segmentation of medical images, 3-D visualization, C/C++ programming
